Lions And Tigers And Wrestlers, Oh My!
EDGE WINS his match at Wrestlemania! Edge beat out 5 other Superstars to win a Money in The Bank Ladder Match. Basically, it was a ladder match where a contract containing a title shot that expires in a year was put in a briefcase suspended above the ring. And Edge won! This is really special, since Edge (aka Adam Copeland) has yet to win the WWE Championship, and has been deserving of a title shot for some time. He really puts himself on the line with each match, and really delivers a clean performance each time. I believe he is in the same arena as Tommy Dreamer and Mick Foley. Awesome!
Our feet are still pissed at us because yesterday, we park hopped, or for those of you ignorant in Diz-nay lingo, we visited more than one park in a span of 18 hours. For the morning time, we ventured into Animal Kingdom, which is Disney's most recent and largest park. Animal Kingdom is like a zoo with really neat rides and trails with animals in their "natural habitat" that somewhat resembles the land from which they came, minus the slack-jawed humans who pass them daily. We did the safari and saw the new baby elephant calf (at a safe distance, I assure you) as well as the thrill ride Dinosaur, in which Buster from Arrested Development asks us to find an iguanadon so he can discover the genetic link between Crustacean and current periods. Also, a T-Rex chases you. Then we ate at Rainforest Cafe. Rainforest Cafe, when it first opened, was almost a turn-off in that it was SO uberly environmentally conscious. It had an edge to it that I can appreciate. The cool thing was that it featured a variety of environmentally friendly products such as shampoo and conditioner. In the past few years, it has changed over, and now sells a lot of tees and candy. Sort of a bummer, but still a neat experience. We then dropped in on my 'rents at Fort Wilderness, kissed and loved Fee for a little while, and then headed into the Magic Kingdom.
The Madge, as I like to call it, is the centerpiece for your traditional Disney experience. Sure, it's fluffy, and princess-y, and almost always crowded to the point of discomfort, but, you just gotta go, and when you get there, there's something in the air that makes you wanna go through the gates. I'm convinced Magic Kingdom workers are piping some sort of pheromone chemical through the air to inotxicate the public, because people just flock in. We stuck to popular faves The Haunted Mansion, Pirates of The Carribean, and The Hall of Presidents, rides with some substance and not a whole lot of waiting. Also we shopped. We have been trying in vain to find Brer Fox and Brer Bear from Song of The South, however, they apparently were not big sellers and have been discontinued. At about 8PM we called it a day, braved the crowds oogling the Electrical Parade and got the hell outta Madge.
Today we slept in (til about 10...big time sleeping in at Diz), and ventured into a less-crowded MGM Studios. MGM is a dual theme park and working production studio. Once I saw Tim Allen there working on a commercial for Builder's Square. It also houses three of our favorite attractions- The Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular, Star Tours (inspired by Star Wars) and Muppet Vision 3D. We were able to hit all three within a really reasonable time frame. Today the biggest impact was, not with our feet, but with our wallets. We bought A LOT of stuff. First of all, all three of these attractions also have a store attached to them. John went hog wild in the Star Wars store. I picked up a name tag that said JEDI KNIGHT on it, and I plan to use it on my name badge at work for a bit of fun (they also had such fun names like SITH LORD and WOOKEE) as well as a long-sleeved tee with Jedi Training Academy on it. I plan to seriously nerd-out at the premiere of Episode III and wear it. We found a bust of Muppet Janice at the Muppet Store, and John bought a couple of other things. The motherload occurred at a shop entitled Antique and Curious, where we found autographed pictures of Angus Young and Peter Mayhew, the man who plays Chewbacca. We're very proud. John also bought Indiana Jones' hat, some Indy action figures, and I bought a very sexy picture postcard with Connery and Harrison Ford on it as the Drs Jones. All of this we were able to have shipped to our room free of charge. So all in all an excellent and productive day.
