The Beauty of Saturn
It's been a while since I blogged. Busy I guess. Having lots of married person fun and then in the off time, work. I guess there are some people who actually notice my links. I guess I have to explain to those who didn't notice.
I call this post The Beauty of Saturn because I recently saw an online slideshow about the ringed planet (check it out at Comcast.net- not disappointing at all). I looked at the beauty in all it's glory and realized how truly wonderful science is. I have spent the last year or so studying skepticism and critical thinking, and, to paraphrase Julia Sweeney, it has been the first time I've felt more enlightened the more I learn. I didn't find that to be particularly true with any other endeavors, including, I am sorry to say, spiritual ones. Or political ones for that matter. The 2006 election left me jaded towards the two main parties. Watching John Kerry in camo trying in vain to hunt, I just sighed sadly and knew. Since then, I've been reading and researching and realize I don't agree with either party, and have found a satisfying alternative in the LP, which stresses individual liberty and personal responsibility.
So here I am now. I feel good. I've learned a lot about myself, my comfort zones, and my weaknesses. But I also do not know what the future holds. And for once, I don't feel scared. I feel excited.
